Opening Ceremony: (everyone)
The opening ceremony on the afternoon of the 26th of July will take place in the main hall of the Gevher Nesibe Selçuklu Müzesi (http://www.selcuklumuzesi.com/ustmenu.asp?id=8&euid=1&sid=8), courtesy of the newly elected Mayor of Kayseri. The President of Ankara University and the General Director of Antiquities have announced that they will attend the ceremony.
The Governor of the Kayseri Province will in turn invite all meeting participants to a festive dinner in a recently restored Ottoman quarter at Kayseri following the opening ceremony.
Practical Information: (everyone)
For this first evening dresscode is semi-formal. For the remainder of the time, we suggest informal wear – the site will be warm and shorts and short sleeves / dresses are recommended. The evenings can get cool, but never cold.
The meeting itself takes place in the Kültepe Meeting Hall, which is air conditioned and microphoned. All posters will be placed outside the hall in the area where coffee and refreshments are served between sessions. There will be a PC running PowerPoint and a Macbook running Keynote (NB: ver. 5.3) to show images on. There is even an ordinary slide projector, in case you wish to go old-school.
All meals during the conference 27-28-29 July are served on site. There will be tours of the site on the evenings of the 27th and the 28th. Meals and soft drinks are served without charge throughout the meeting. Alcoholic beverages are offered for sale at the site. Bring cash. Bring an instrument if you have one. The kind offer of transport from the Municipality gives us a lot of freedom, and we will see to it that you are taken back to your hotel in the evening as you require.
We look very much forward to welcoming you all at Kültepe,
Fikri Kulakoğlu and Gojko Barjamović
